We all have memories unique to our lives, and each one is shared with at least one person that we know and love. But how many of us can say that we share all our memories with one person? Well, we can’t; however, there is one who has been with us through every moment of our lives, both good and bad, and thus, He shares in each and every one of our memories.

January 14, 2024… “Dear God… to think You have been with me through each moment of my life. You share all my memories, even those I cannot remember. You know me to the depths of my soul and better than I even know myself. Now, I want to know You.”

I love to journal, and almost every night before bed, I write in my prayer journal and share all that is on my heart with the Lord. A few night ago, I was reflecting on all the beautiful memories I have made since coming to Evangel University. While I was reflecting, I realized that not one of my friends or family can say that they have shared in all my experiences. As I pondered this, God spoke to my heart and I realized that God shares each of my memories: past, present, and future. He remembers the things I have forgotten and He knows the memories that are still to be made. In fact, God knows me better than anyone in the entire universe, including myself! He knows who I am today and He knows who I will be in the future. He knows my heart…

What are memories but the precious or tough moments we share with people we love? If God shares in our every memory, than we can conclude that He loves us more, He knows us better, and He desires us more deeply than anyone else on earth. He is our best friend. As I thought about this I realized, “If the God of the universe loves me and knows me better than I know and love myself, shouldn’t I want to know Him equally as well? Wow, I hope this surprises you as much as it did me. God loves us so so much. He knew us and He loved us before we were even conceived in our mother’s womb!

I wrote a song a couple of summers ago that paints a beautiful picture of God’s heart for us. The song is called “He Loves to Watch You Grow.” The chorus lyrics are these: “He loves to watch you grow, day after day, from the moment you opened your eyes. He loves to watch you grow, He’s with you always, through the wonder, and sorrow, and joy. He loves to watch you grow…”

I hope you were encouraged to draw closer to God in reading this post. Take time to meditate on God’s love today. Ask Him how He sees you and seek to get to know Him. He is the most wonderful, understanding, loving, kind, beautiful, and caring friend that you will ever have, and words don’t come close to describing just how amazing He is.
