The sun is setting on this March 31st. This is the view outside my sun-room window.
It is cold and the wind is calm.
We’ve had a foot of this white stuff the past few days. This is the first year I can remember not being able to have an outdoor egg hunt on Easter. Normally, our snow is gone.
A lot of people aren’t thrilled! But you know what? In the morning the sun will be glistening, beautiful, on the snow, and I am reminded of Isaiah 1:18…
“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”
The matter is settled. Jesus said, “It is finished.”
Just as Mary and the disciples found an empty tomb, Jesus calls for those who are dead in their sins to come alive with Him. He has paid the price for our sins. All we need do is accept this lavish love… the free gift of forgiveness God offers us because of Christ’s sacrifice–his passion–for us.
When we attended the CCCA Conference, this is one of the songs we sang throughout the weekend. I just fell in love with it because of the meaning. The words are below…
Happy Easter, Friends!
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb
Till I met You
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb
Till I met You
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
Now Your freedom is all I know
The old made new
Jesus, when I met You
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
My sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter
I was an orphan
But You call me a citizen of heaven
When I was broken
You were my healing
Your love is the air that I’m breathing
I have a future
My eyes are open
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day

Besutiful song! I hadn’t heard it before now! Thank you! And it’s too bad about the Easter egg hunt, but the snow is beautiful and it reminds me of the good news, “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow!” (Isaiah 1:18). 🙂 Happy Resurrection Day to you and yours, dear Linda!!

It’s a good reminder! I think we’ll go do an egg hunt in the camp retreat center. It will be just as fun. 😉 *Hug*
